Christmas services 2021 and blog goes on vacation!

December 24, 2021

Dr. Anne’s blog is taking a vacation! Feel free to catch up on old ones! In 2020 I had lots more time to write when we were sadly not live!

I am so proud of everyone! Here are how the Christmas services will differ.

3 pm our kids preschool-7th grade are singing and acting in a pageant. There is congregational singing of some carols-many fewer verses than usual but join us outside to sing more at 4 pm and hear our bell choir! This service is full (although check back for cancellations), but you can livestream it and pick up communion between 4 and 4:30, or enjoy it on Youtube anytime!

At 5 our teens will read the Nativity story punctuated by music by our Daughters of Zion and Gargoyles, and visit from some Kings. Again, some carol singing and communion (wafer). This event is also full (so that we can have Covid safe seating 125 congregants are allowed at this time) but you can livestream it or enjoy it on Youtube anytime!

At 9 pm our adults have a lovely service planned with recorder, viola, bells and music by Praetorius, Willcocks, Warland and Silent Night by candlelight. There are 6 spots left at the time of this posting (go to gracemadison.org.) This will also be livestreamed and you can watch it anytime (even at 11 pm if you are a purist!)

Our Christmas morning 10 am service of carols and communion is led by an intergenerational choir and is family friendly. No need to sign-up, just come if you’ve powered through presents early! It is my favorite service.

It is our aim to do all these services within an hour. If you signed up but cannot come, you can unsign-up and open up spots. Thank you!

Sunday December 26 10 am is the service (no 8 or 4) and our Organ Scholar is covering and he sounds great! I can visit my family in Philly for Christmas dinner without having to turn around and come right back. I am so thankful and also proud of Henry! I also want to give a shout out to my amazing Children’s Choir Assistant, Camille without whom I would be exhausted. Her good cheer and talent is a blessing to us all. Sorry there is so much furniture moving!

Merry Christmas Everyone, enjoy it for a full 12 Days!
