Palm Sunday Music Musings April 2, 2023

After giving an Outreach concert at Crane’s Mill retirement community last night, I finally gave up and went to bed!
Happy Palm Sunday! Our prelude is a festive setting of All Glory Laud and Honor—since on Palm Sunday the service starts triumphally and ends silently after the Passion reading. Our music at the distribution of Palms is a setting of ELLACOMB (Hosanna Loud Hosanna). You will also hear the choristers during communion singing the first verse of Were You There from the gallery during communion after which I hope you will join in the remaining verses.
Our offertory is a setting of Let This Mind Be in You by Thomas Pavlechko , Lutheran organist with Slovak-Ukrainian roots. Read more about him here. I’m exciting to combine with the “Blue Choir” (older trebles) for it.
I’m excited for a week of music and worship!
If you need more to read or watch, the previous blog is the program from our John Donne recital which closed the Friday Lenten series.
We also recorded our last Chanted Compline of the season which you can watch here. (starts about 3 minutes in).
